I’m fitting into clothes that I never thought I would!

Josef had me buy a set of clothes I’d like to wear upon reaching my fitness goals. They would represent a stretch goal to hang on the back of my bedroom door. A reminder of what I was trying to achieve.

I hated the idea. I had a 41 inch waist and 36inch slacks that didn’t fit were already a bitter reminder of my girth and lost fitness. Buying even more clothes that were too small seemed like a stupid idea.

But, I went to Macy’s anyway. I found the nicest and most expensive Ralph Lauren kaki pants and polo shirt I could find. The pants were a 33 and the shirt was a medium… 36 didn’t fit and I’d always worn large shirts.

I took the clothes to the counter to pay and the saleswoman behind the counter asked me, “Sir, would you like to try these clothes on before you buy them? They might be too small for you.”

In my head I thought, “just sell me the clothes bitch!” But I said, “no thank you” in a way that still got my point across.

The clothes hung on my door as I worked with Josef around my issues with food and to develop my commitment to working out. I learned a lot about myself in the process and began to develop and enjoy healthy eating habits and I got results!

I tried on my Ralph Lauren outfit the other day to see how close I was to my goal. They slipped on with no problem! I was stunned. I never thought that I would fit into these clothes. The outfit is no longer a cause for distress and humiliation. Now they are an inspiration to keep going.
