It’s been a busy few weeks:

*After a few years off, I am finally back on the radio. I did my first radio interview in a long time on KQDS in Duluth, MN this Tuesday. I talked about how to really burn fat in your sleep (no pills).

*I got my 2nd article published on T-nation.com. It’s about grass-fed beef and has five great recipes to go along with it. Click here to read.

*I was also published three times on the Fitness Expert Network!

Quote #23

“To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothin, be nothing.” – Elbert Hubbard

I thought that might be helpful to everyone who is running into people in their life who are trying to sabotage their fat-loss efforts.

Quick Tip #23 – Sugar-Free Chocolate Heaven

washington dc personal trainerI love chocolate. I eat it almost every day. In the interest of both my health and my physique I avoid chocolate sweetened with sugar, or, even worse, high fructose corn syrup. Recently, I have been ordering my chocolate from Yamate Chocolate.

washington dc personal trainerSummertime means key-lime pie. Summertime also means going to the beach and hanging out at the pool in swimwear that lets EVERYONE know exactly how well you’ve been eating and exercising for the past few months – Judgment day! My girlfriend, bless her, has figured out how to eat key-lime pie without getting squishy. Check out her super quick, easy and yummy recipe right here.

Real Motivation

In my opinion, motivation – lasting motivation – is something that comes ONLY from inside. That is to say that people NEVER do what they think that SHOULD do.

Should do comes from the outside. It is external judgment, opinion, and/or coercion to do or not do something. People may respond well in the short term to that, but it will not last.

Real motivation is about what YOU want and what YOU think is right for YOU. It has nothing to do with anyone else or any authority and their opinions, ought’s, or should’s.

For example, I do not drink ANY alcohol at all anymore. I used to get drunk for fun quite a lot – from the age of 13 to 24. Lots of people told me that I shouldn’t be drinking, etc., but I did not really care what they had to say. I would feel bad inside, and feel guilty and think that I should quit.

Occasionally I would quit, but I would always relapse – always.

Then, I decided that I wanted to be healthier for ME. That I had better things to do with my time – I didn’t want to waste my evenings drinking. I did not want to waste my mornings and afternoons being hung-over. I did not want to waste a single solitary second of my life being less than 100% of my best, if I could help it.

I decided for MYSEFL that I wanted to be able to see my abs, to have more energy, and have more money. I decided that I wanted to stop doing things that I would regret, like I used to do when I drank. I decided that I wanted to be able to unwind, be lose, be uninhibited at will, NOT at the bottle.

When I got the reasons for MYSELF that I wanted to do this, then it made sense to me and it became relatively easy. It was a little awkward initially, but at this point it is no struggle at all because it was my choice.

This is NOT at all to say that you should just do whatever you feel like doing. This is to say that if you are finding yourself constantly stopping and starting the process of getting the body you want, then you should look at how you talk to yourself. You will NEVER do what you think you SHOULD do.

Stop “shoulding” all-over yourself. Take a real look in the mirror and decide for yourself is YOU want to change. If YOU don’t like what YOU see, then take it upon YOURSELF to change NOW. Do it for yourself, and for your own reasons.
