Newsletter #21 – Are You Full Of It?

Are You Full Of It?

News

Do you think that eating out and being fit mix like oil and water? Well, check out this article in the latest issue of The Brookland Heartbeat. It’s about eating out while STILL respecting your body.

I went to three different non-health food restaurants and had three delicious, yet physique friendly meals. All the places featured are in my neighborhood in DC – Brookland, NE. Click here to read it.

Quote and Article

Dan Kennedy (a self-made multi-millionaire) said this about money:

“If excuses roll willingly from a person’s tongue, it’s certain money does not flow easily into his pockets.”

You can re-work this quote to be about fitness (or anything else) like this:

“If excuses roll willingly from a person’s tongue, it’s certain that results do not flow easily into his life.”

If you are not succeeding, you – specifically the excuses you make all the time – are the problem. Stop looking outside of yourself. Stop passing the buck. Put down the cake, and pick up the barbell.

Dan Kennedy also said:

“Wealth is attracted by taking responsibility, repelled by disavowing it.”

When it comes to body-fat, fitness, or muscle gain the exact opposite applies:

“Body-fat [and small muscles] is repelled by taking responsibility, attracted by disavowing it.”

Un-freakin’-Beleivable

You would NOT believe the ridiculous excuses that fully grown adult, human beings make about why they skip workouts, and why they eat poorly. (Human’s are supposed to intelligent right?)

Here are actual quotes from actual clients and people I know. (Clients, if you see your excuse(s) here don’t get offended because A.) You’re not the only person who’s made the exact same excuse, so its not directed at you per se. B.) Nobody knows it was you, other that you and me. C.) You should use this as motivation to take a look in the mirror and improve yourself, not to get angry. Your privacy has been respected.):

Excuse #1: “I’m too old.”

My comment: Someone should have told that to Jim. He came in as a boarder-line obese 52 year old (despite taking at least two hour long aerobics classes per week). Somehow he slashed his body-fat by almost half in 11 weeks. Go figure. He must have been lucky, right?

If you spell it Labor Under Correct Knowledge.

washington dc personal trainerHere is Jim before:
*193lbs
*25% body-fat (26% is obese for a man)

washington dc personal trainerHere is Jim after

*172lbs
*14% body fat (down almost 1% per week!)

Results:
*Dropped over 21lbs of fat
*Lost NO muscle (on other programs 25-50% of the weight lost is actually muscle, not fat)

The ONLY thing that MUST change as you age is your skin elasticity. That is your skin won’t be as tight as it was in your 20’s, 30’s or 40’s. BUT, that’s the only thing so long as you take care of yourself.

What about your metabolism? Does it have to slow down? Nope. Your metabolism is largely a function of how much muscle you have. People lose muscle after the age of 30 because they don’t lift heavy stuff on a regular basis. If you don’t lift, then your body has no use for your muscle. Metabolic slow down is your fault. But, you can reverse it into your 90’s.

Excuse #2: “I had to work.”

My comment: REALLY!? You have a job? I’ve never met anyone like that before. Most of my clients are unemployed and pay me from their government checks.

Oh, wait. EVERYONE has a job, or at least some kind of very significant life responsibility.

Every once-in-a-while you may have a legitimate work emergency that will make a normal gym schedule impossible, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still do something. For FREE, right now, you can download a 15min workout that you can do AT HOME with the bare minimum of equipment by clicking here.

Excuse #3: “I don’t have the time.”

My comment: Hey, I understand. Most of my really successful clients have between 25 and 26hrs in their day. It’s just not fair that you only ended up with a paltry 24.

Oh, wait, I’m being sarcastic again. No one has ever hired me and said, “Josef, I’ve got all this extra time on my hands. Do you think I could use some of it to get in shape? I don’t really know what else to do with myself.”

Everyone is busy all the time. I can remember a time in my life when I single, unemployed, and not going to school, yet I still told myself that I was too busy to workout regularly.

I had one client who was a homicide detective. When they have emergencies, they really have emergencies – someone probably got killed. When that happens, they work around the clock, literally. He still managed to drop 13lbs of body fat in 5 ½ weeks, even though an investigation took him out of the gym for 2 of those weeks.

He was successful because he did the best that he could: A.) He actually followed the plan during non-legitimate-emergency time. B.) He stuck to his nutrition guns very, very well when he was working around the clock. C.) He got right back on track as soon as the emergency was over.

Most people simply MANUFACTURE emergencies in their life in the hopes that this will give them good enough excuses so that others will not call their bluff. Real, uncontrollable emergencies don’t happen that often. If you are having emergencies pop-up in your life every 2, 4, or 6 weeks that “prevent” you from getting the job done, then you probably need to take a look in the mirror and see what it is that YOU are doing to cause this. Nobody’s luck is really that bad. Only their time management skills.

We all have manure in our life. Sometimes we get it daily. Sometimes we get it hourly. We all get loads of it. Some people carry that manure in a large sack wherever they go. Some people smear it all over their faces. Some people use it as fertilizer.

“There are no victims, only volunteers.” – Lee Milteer

Excuse #4: “I’m wasn’t hungry… I didn’t feel like eating.” So, he/she skips meals on a regular basis and then eats junk instead and wonders why “it isn’t working.”

My comment: Oh, you poor thing. You must be the first person in the entire history of the human race that didn’t feel like doing something that they needed to do.

None of my other clients have ever had to work at improving their nutrition habits, or making regular exercise a priority. It just came naturally, and with ease for them.

Conclusion

You can either have a great body or a great excuse, but you can’t have both.

Summer, Summer, Summer Time!

The official first day of summer is only 10 weeks away. Memorial day is only 7 weeks away. Will you be embarrassed when you take off your shirt or sport your swimsuit? Or, will you strut your stuff with pride?

You’re the ONLY one who can make it happen. Nobody can work out for you. Nobody can eat right for you. What’s in going to be? Muffin top or magnificent? Man-boobs or pecs?

Are you going to make excuses and be stuck wearing a cover-ups again this summer? Or, are you going to get off your ass and make something happen?

Make sure that you don’t waste your precious time and energy. If you want to be sure of getting off on the right foot, I can literally guarantee that you’ll drop at least 8-10lbs of body fat (not just weight) in the first 4wks alone (8 for women, 10 for men). I can tell you exactly how to eat, and exactly how to exercise to melt the fat away. I can also help keep you accountable.

I only have the time to help one more person, so the first person to click here and fill out the form will be first in line.
